Funny. After reading those, all the instances of "missile bug" are with ATGM's, not AA missiles.

then you haven't read all! but i don't blame you, i woulden't go through 100's of whine post. theres a slight bug with AAA that makes them hit targets directly under the helicopter, or in the flightpath. it's quiete rare though, and not worth whining alot.

Odd, I've had nothing but success with the Roland 2.

The Marder Roland is awesome, it's plenty accurate. Probably prefer NATO AA to Pact AA, all things considered.

most people ignore that pact helis have more hit points. nato AA against cobras or hogs would work great.

If only that SAM could be used in conjunction with something that could shoot at the helicopter while it targeted the SAM... something that could shoot in an upward direction at reasonable range, rate of fire for a reasonable price. If only there was such units in the game...

I am not sure that one should take more whining without reacting. I equally win or lose my games on both sides, you'd better rather stop crying and concentrate on your own weaknesses. Sometimes our guys get terribly unlucky, but it's a matter of making their jobs as less prone to randomness as possible. For instance, buying single AA units instead of buying pairs, either as a section or as a double proned killzone is asking for the merci of the God of luck. And sometimes, he doesn't have any left for you. I very rarely had any sort of accuracy problem once I bought my AA and SAM in pairs, even unvetted (and, well, you know that they vet quickly once they hit!).

NATO AA has its own sh*tload of great units which do not parallel WP forces but still make for their deficiencies in other areas

- Manpads are Manpads, nothing new or special here, except for the higher health of WP choppers (so buy MORE manpads and twin them at least!)

- The Roland 2 are great, especially the Marder Roland for its additional armor. They can shoot straight, and will shoot better if, again, you care to buy two of them. They can withstand easily concentrated FFAR fire and still react to it.

- The Chaparrals are killers once you adopted one of the few standard modus operandi that allow them to be used to their full potential. Vet them (mine are Vet2) and again buy them in pair (something needed to increase the rate of fire) with an attached supply truck section. I just don't know how choppers can escape them (including Mi-9 - and the bloke who said earlier that Mi-9 are immune have clearly not tried hard enough, or has no good practice of using forests as cover)

- The German AA is great too: many times did I have even cheap Dusters take care of terrible threats like Mi-28 that happened to go at the wrong place at the wrong moment (use the roads people!). Guepards are of course ferocious beast in their own kind, only barely challenged by the Tunguska guns.

- The M163 derivatives are arguably the weakest AA/SAM vehicle unit because of their short range (like the Shilka is in-game for the WP), but have so much merit on their own as a ground support unit that it is still worth a slot if you're considering your way of playing (pinning down a T64 with a M163 is priceless)

- Fast NATO APCs like the Fuchs, the VAB and the Saracen can actually make their own fate against isolated choppers. Unlike basic BTR60 PAI which is barely fast enough to close a gab, don't forget that these NATO fellows go as fast as 105km/h (Fuchs) and will advance faster than a Mi-24 can throttle back if it doesn't turn around first. Had my fair share of choppers doomed by small MGs that way (and, well, don't forget that the VAB gun is a M2HB...).

- And, last but not least, people seem to forget how greatly enhanced the NATO autoprotection is once you may no forget to feed your OOB with autocanons carriers aplenty. Considering how weak the WP is on this side of things, limited to BMP2s, BMP3s an dedicated AA 23mm/57mm platforms with otherwise poor AP performance, NATO IFVs (Marder, AMX10P, Bradleys...), recon (Luchs, Kurz...) or light support (the dreaded Wiesel, anyone?!). Even though theater AA/SAM cover may be a little weaker for the NATO forces (as it should be, considering how powerful and varied the real WP AA/SAM arsenal is), don't forget that their close AA abilities are genuinely way beyond what the WP can ever wish for.
