Seems to me, which heavy tank you take is totally up to your preference.

For me, Leos are the only way to go. I tried Abrams, but the fact that they do not penetrate the T80U frontally (from max range) was a big nono. Challies are just way too slow (imo NATO is at a big disadvantage when defending) and the AMX32 is way too squishy.

Necrotastic! All the other posts in this thread were before the heavy tank range buff. They were also before the Leo 2A4 accuracy and stabaliser buff. These days the 2A4 stands a clear leader, with the Chally and M1A1 being rather similar to each other.

Those days the Leo 2 only had a very good stabiliser and accuracy 9 on the main gun IIRC. It was also 1925m range, same as all the other tanks, so the weaker side armour was much more significant.

I think Leo2A4s acc was 8 or 7 points, it was much worse than Abrams A1.
Some mod close this thread please.

Hmmm Chally's are very slow. Just took at 4 of them with 2 T-80A. Hit them and run. They can get shot with ATGMs because they are way slow. M1A1 is good, this tank is quite rare since most people use thier Leo2's and get pwned because of thier weaker side armor. M1A1 actually has better acc than a Leo2a4. M1A1 is better.

Callenger's 45kmph, m1a1 50kmph, it is not a huge difference there and m1a1 has equal accuracy to the leo2A4 but a weaker gun.

From a ¨seasoned¨ Pact player point of view... every time my recon gets a couple of well supported Leo 2A on their sights...I get a chill down the spine...startles the hell out me more than the damn alarm sound... :) Hope this answers your question.

Down to preference I'd say the Chally blows the M1A1 out of the water. On paper the M1A1 should be equal-ish but for my tactics which include slow buildup offensive the challys' ability to soak up fire is incredibly helpful!

Would leo be able to penetrate frontally or only from behind?

In real life on in game? What kind of leo2, what ammunition does it use, what range it shoots at?

ya the part about how much this cost's i could really care less because i rarely lose and i do use them on the move and even while standing still the abrams seam to get done had a game not to long ago where 3 of the abrams killed 30+ each cuz my average game lasts about 50min and the abrams just don't seem to die

Killed 4-5 Abrams yesterday, using 2 T-64B and a bunch of Zhalos on the flanks. :-P

Yep, last night I cut through 8 Abrams with 3 T-80s in about 20 seconds (granted I flanked them while they were targeting infantry in the woodline (not ATGM infantry and not within LAW range).

Then some Leo 2A's came out and I tucked tail and ran after losing two of mine -THOSE hurt!

well since he had 8 they were either 4 a1s and 4 ips or 8 m1s if it was the latter your t-80s deserved to pwn them if it was the former any idiot who lets his abrams take t-80s from head on should lose his tanks abrams are flankers you cant use them on defense against t-80s or t-64s if you do they deserve to die use them on offence with 2 grops of 2 circling the enemy tanks and you can kill the entire t-80 lines in groups up to 6
