The Chaparral missile is based on the Sidewinder, not Stinger. The original MIM-72A was basically a modified AIM-9D, and was a tail-chaser only. The MIM-72F is the same as the MIM-72E, the difference being the E models were upgrades of older missiles, while F models were newly built. The E/F added improved seekers, while maintaining the improved fuses and warheads of the C version.

In the mid to late 80's the FIM-72G version appeared, which used the seeker head of the Stinger.

Why is the oh58 range not 4.2 km like the chap. They're the same missile.

I believe the OH-58 fires a Stinger tho? Chaparral fires a modified Sidewinder.

This thing is so useless, as if the atgm would ever hit anything if your not directly above of it so that even a mmg could shoot it down. It got 4 AA missiles from which 3 will probably miss and that one left will not bring any chopper down. Vetting doesn't work on it, for the price to vet it you can have a Mi P gunship with dual 30mm autocannons and sick missiles that will bring any helo down.
