I wanted to make a screen today, but forgot to and clicked exit. In that game, a (US air recon with gatling) took down a command and one apache took down two remaining ones. The only loss I had in the battle was an air transport after a drop. And these were the only three helicopters I had, and the three only kills. Oh boy, did they leave fast after battle.

Everybody always sends a helicopter probe. Almost every single game.

That probe will pay for your AA. If it cost 120 for whatever two copters they used, that will pay for three vetted AA missiles or nine flak.

Your alternative is to pay 200-300 for a command vehicle loss every game.

It's just stupid not to have AA at the very least.

If you use some heli transported infantry after unload you have your probe "for free". You can scout the area, these ~50 points are often well spend, because you can kill arty or unprotected command. I don't know why people still leave them unprotected.

The other thing is Kiowa Warrior. This heli is extremaly lethal due to excellent spotting range and very accurate guided missiles. It can fire at the command vehicle not being seen by the enemy, and because of Hellfire being ire&forget, quickly go for safety.

I leave the kiowa at bay these days. In 1v1 that's 10% of the victory points that could go down in flames with a bad move.

ATGMs are not where it's at on Helicopters, missile pods are. And Autocannons on the Gazelle if you're luicky enough to play NATO. As people play the game more they realise that and stop bringing those super expensive choppers. Havocs and Apaches shouldn't even be in most decks, tbh.

Havocs and apaches are both devastating if they don't have Sams. They can easily destroy so much cause aa arty and flak has such crap range. There is almost noreason to even bring any type of aa other than sams. Seems stunning infantry amd apcs are the only thing they are good for.

Edit.. I have seen some very effective use of apaches with cobras atgm choppers amd a recon.hell some of the sams are crap as well since their range isn't.much better than the aa cannons. Buks and what are they? Chapparals? that have the over 4000km range? Other than that using the cheapest choppers to go in first with the apaches amd atgm sitting back slightly the aa gets easily stunned and does or just outranged all together. They need to increase all aa cannons range to at.least atgm range cause currently it takes a very bad mistake for someone to lose a chopper to a non missile based aa unit inless its a cannon gazelle

That's why you never send choppers straight in you flank with them. But even if u do get that ambush if they have more choppers tjan u havee aa guns you will lose caise they will stun lock you. Of course one chopper.costs.more than one cheap aa cannnon to replace that aa cannon tales a long time for.ot to get back.
