Then people will start using veterancy and the metagame will start to change.

This is what happens. I do know what that sort of frustration feels like but I guess I'm not as disturbed by this as you seem to be.

on the contrary, the metagame will be completely static. Cheap unit spam will rule, and nothing will supplant it.

Problem isn't veterance per se, it is that units with stabilizers are overpriced if you take into account that veteran crappy units get it for dirt cheap.

think about it.

with vet 1 my chance to hit at range nearly triples. For 100 points I can nearly triple my effective firepower. For 200 points I can quadruple it. 300, and I increase it by over 500%.

A vet 0 force of 20 VTS1s costs 400 points and hits like... 20 vet 0 VTS1s.
A vet 1 force of 20 VTS1s costs 500 points and hits like 50 vet 0 VTS1s.
vet 2-> 80 vet 0 VTS1s

The same applies to other cheap units. An m113 RR 106mm track costs 10 for an acc 2 ap 7 HEAT gun. It has no health and can't hit well at range.

But for an extra 100 points for max vet over the 100 points I spend to buy 10 of them, I can get the effective firepower of 70 m113 RR tracks.

It's just... insane. Absolutely and completely insane.

I agree with you that cheap unit spam is a problem, especially if it's NATO doing it, but on the other hand they did have a lot of investment in countering Sov armor with things like TOW jeeps etc.

I will look into what you're saying about the Marders. Perhaps you are right.

Isn't this true of any cheap unit though? And if that's the case maybe what you are saying about veterancy is indeed an issue.

Reread your post and I guess that's what you're saying, and I guess you do indeed have a point there.

It does seem that getting veteran cheap units, make higher end units less valuable as you can overcome the accuracy/firepower issues that these cheap units have. And veterans for cheap units are... well, cheap.

It doesn't help with armor/speed/fuel/AP penetration, but I think getting the first salvo right on target is critical in engagements.

It sounds like a bug or a really stupid decision by game devs.

And it's very easy to fix with the obvious fix.

Veterancy bonuses shouldn't be absolute ffs but relative. So vet 1 gives you 20%(or whatever is deemed right) increase to the basic values, vet 2- 40% and so on.

Then when you have 5% for a unit without stabilizer + 20% of that 5%= 6%. With vet 4 it will be 9%.

On the other hand if the unit has stabilizer and his basic accuracy is 15%. With vet 1 it will be 18%. And with vet 4= 27%.

So the veterancy will still be handy for any unit but the balance between vetted cheap and elite units will be the same as with unvetted ones.

Really can't see any reason why it wasn't done in the first place.

Best solution would be to remove the deployment of vet units in MP. Only way to gain vet in MP should be by using the units.

Now I know this I'm pretty much gonna run cheap vehicle spam when I care about winning. Everyone saying that there is no issue with this is wrong, Bentguru is right; Vet is far too good on cheap units, and even more gooderer when those units have 2 armour.

T55s here I come!
