I have been examining the VTS1 in photos.

Why do you people seem to think it is loaded and fired by someone sitting on top of/outside the vehicle?

It has a gunner's periscope just underneath the cannon, and lacks any sort of platform for people to stand upon outside the vehicle itself. It looks like it loads shells from the inside of the vehicle, possibly with an automatic loader, and ejects them outside of the vehicle. It even looks like it might have y-axis stablization.

It looks like an upsized Wiesel.

It was just a study not a real prototype of a new series of vehicles. Nothing more.

Marder VTS1
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTS1_%28Panzer%29

They used the Marder plattfrom for many things.

The interessting thing is that there is infact a Marder with this gun+turret called TAM (They even made a artillery and MLRS out of it)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TAM_%28tank%29

They even did This crazy study (I wont spoiler the fun):

There was even a 44t (!) Marder 2. But it was killed off with the end of cold war.

I wouldnt compare a 28t vehicle with a 2-4t Wiesel

Looks like the Mammoth tank of Command & Conquer and Red Alert, but without the turret. With the Panzer VIII Maus, it means the Germans tried to times to make a dual bareled tank ^^ . I also realised that a single Leopard 2A4 cost more than 9 T-55 and I'm not sure he will wins ... All lower ends units cost should be raised. At this time, high ends tanks are just free points for mechanised waves users .... :( Same thing for those damned VTS1 ....

Interesting how vehicle with open loader space still have 2 front armor. Maybe it should more often get weapon critical hit

Loading is internal, as has been said a few times. Uses an autoloading system that requires the gun to be pointed to its 12 o'clock.

Which means low RoF and that the gunner must aim again after each shot. T-62 had a similar problem. The cartrige was long and their was an automatic cartridge ejector which ejected it on the outside without breaking the NBC protection. The problem was that the gun had to be elevated after each shot, lowering the RoF and the gunner had to reaim each time. That was the price of placing such a powerful fun in a so small turret.

P.S. : Yes I hate the VTS1 with a lot of passion.

A 2A4 beats 9 T55s with no hits taken so long as he has enough space to reverse. If you're faster and have longer range it's simply a matter of reversing.

Well Tigga is rigth.. but on that you do not take itno account the massive ammount of micromanaementyou might need to do if you have to control more than 1 hot spot in battle. That makes cheap units easier to handle.

I think the high end units in this game could have a small cost decrease. Like all the high tier tanks could drop around 5 cost, with a few ones dropping 10.

Most of timeits very bad idea to usehigh ends otherwise.
