The 18th is my next one off, then after that I have every other one off.

If there is enough interest, then there is nothing stoping us from having a Big Event Night (a main one). And then smaller themed events (informal perhaps).

Edit: I tend to have a ton of time on my hands for the whole week off.. followed by none, so I´d be keen to for events big and small.

I guess a good idea would be to create a Steam group? I´m North_Wolf on there as well in case.

I've seen people in the PLF build their french, east german etc. decks so we'd be definitely up for this. Not every week probably but every now and then.

Could see this end up a bit like viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2691 for the minor nations. Or would we actually want to mirror historic configurations more closely (eg. each player given a list of units to include/deploy beforehand).

How do we play pact pure decks, if only USSR and E.German have something close to all nessesary unit?

This my friend is the beauty of this concept...

Remember, all the units that might normally be in your deck will be on the battlefield, you just might not get to control them.

On a more balanced map (open/forest) I see POL/CSSR filling the roll of INF and LOG plus rear guard and CAP defense with their old tanks. This frees-up DDR/CCCP for AAA/armor/helo and arty.

The zone idea (you take left I'll take right) for players gets tossed out the window really and very close coordination is needed...don't get me wrong though, WP is at a disadvantage...which requires a heck of a good plan to start...

Can they get realistically owned vehicles like T62/T72M and so on? Otherwise Czech have no tanks. Poles have only T34.

Awesome to see all the interest here - I will create a steam group for us.

North_Wolf, I see lots of informal meetings that fall short of the full 4v4 plan, but are great for trying out nations and strategies.

I also think we should use this base of interest as a platform for trying several similar concepts. So, 4v4 sole nation decks can be our main goal, but we can also play with battalion vs regimental or divisional OOBs, and also time specific decks.

Ikalugin, this is something I've been thinking about

For the 4v4, I'm all for no deck limits at first, but we have to consider the huge imbalance in tanks right from the start. It's true that the Czechs and Poles can field strong mech infantry and air assault forces, and the Czechs have strong artillery and pretty good AA. They definitely have a role here. But on the NATO side, the US, FRG, France and UK can all field pretty considerable numbers of useful tanks - this is going to put a huge burden on East Germany's T-72s and an even bigger one on the USSR for BMPs, ATGM TDs and on cranking out loads of tanks.

I propose we do give the pure nation decks, no restrictions a try. But that we also experiment with A) very early 80s or late 70s decks to cut down on overwhelming numbers of tier 1 NATO mbts and B) decks where the czechs and poles can add foreign equipment they had anyways - using DDR or USSR T55 and T72 lines, for example. These 'tweaked' NSWP (non-soviet warsaw pact) decks would obviously be something we'd need to research and agree upon for accuracy's sake.

One thing I'm putting my foot down on, the Czechs get to use OT-62 and OT64 APCs - these were joint ventures and the CSSR was at least half responsible for the designs. I'm steamed they didn't give them to both countries.

Personally I think there should be some soviet units used by other WP countries such as shilka, T72/T72A T55 T62, ie units that were deemed redundant by devs and not done in hte game.

We'll definitely be looking into that Ika.

Our steam group is up, Wargame Historical Society - let me send out some invites.

Personally I would say that at least for the first couple of battle, until we see just how this works, we stick to a pure nation deck. Two people have already volunteered to represent CSSR and POL so that's taken care of.

The really issue is balance and until we run one or two, it's all speculation.

Genosse: Thanks for taking care of the Steam Account.

As for all the other ideas...Great! I just ask that we apply the KISS principal and go slow...

Also, PandeX has accepted my request to use his TS3 server for our events. A BIG thanks to him and The Danish Gaming Club for allowing us in. This will make things sooo much easier come battle night.
