This thread is for people interested in participating in battles where each player commands a single nation's forces and
must work closely with the other players on his/her team. It must be stressed that this all all about an experience and
style of play over the need to win. Age and skill level are not important but maturity, teamwork and sportsmanship are all
very important.

As this is in the early stages of development, wording and idea are being tossed around and nothing is set in stone except
for the base concept of course.

Based on interest in the old thread that we kind of hijacked (sorry), these players have expressed interest in this idea.

We'll probably have a once a week or twice a month battle(s) and hopefully, a good time that works for both European
and North American players.

So, if this interests you, please feel free to post here. Any ideas, thoughts, concerns or concepts can also be posted.

Hope this grows into something interesting!

The issue here is that soviet forces would have full combined arms integration at regiment level (with tunguskas) and some such integration below (with artillery and so on).
Thus, if I change a regiment or brigade unit I would not need to limit myself in any units that I use now (well might need to drop KOLOS and replace it with Ural trucks) as those would have pretty much all arms of service in the field, when acting as a forward detachment and such.

I work every other week (all week long on a work-sleep rotation) but I have every other week off (with plenty of free time).

So I would be very interested in games if they where every other week (or simply those games that are).

I favor being one of the W.Pact minors, but I am not picky so I would enjoy giving pretty much any nation a spin.

i'd also love to see specific unit fights, tank fights as envisioned by many strategists of the time, Cheiftans vs T-64's and 62's, gunship air battles, proper down the the wire infantry fights

Most combat would be by combined arms units. Ie you should expect a tank battalion to receive a company of infantry and vice versa. In some units there were combined arms battalions (they are the sort of thing Ogarkov loved), that had organic tank company with 3 infantry companies.

A few suggestion just to make sure we're all heading in the right direction:

- each battle (week, bi-weekly) would see a player use a different nation than the previous battle. This way, we would all get to try or hand at both the typical and atypical forces out there.

- I would suggest that until we see the need, no deck restrictions be put in place (other than 1 nation each of course).

- at every possible turn we stress the need to work as a team. For example, FRA/UK only have air LOG which is not always desired close to the action. Those commanders would have to work closely with the US and GER commanders for supplies. CSSR/POL are more infantry oriented and lack mid-high armor or helo so close coordination is also needed here. The list is endless...

- How does Sunday at 2pm or 3pm (UTC) sound? This should work for both European players and North American ones too. North_wolf, when is your next Sunday that you're off (excluding tomorrow)?

- I'm no map expert so I'm not touching this one (somebody?).

- I would think that a low starting point but high end point is the way to go. Thoughts? Or is a timed game better?

This my friend is the beauty of this concept...

Remember, all the units that might normally be in your deck will be on the battlefield, you just might not get to control them.

On a more balanced map (open/forest) I see POL/CSSR filling the roll of INF and LOG plus rear guard and CAP defense with their old tanks. This frees-up DDR/CCCP for AAA/armor/helo and arty.

The zone idea (you take left I'll take right) for players gets tossed out the window really and very close coordination is needed...don't get me wrong though, WP is at a disadvantage...which requires a heck of a good plan to start...

I'm extremely interested :) I'd be most happy with a Warsaw pact minor as well.
