As an ex British infantier; this has to be the most amusing thread on the forums.

The comment about the water retaining capabilities of the old 58 pattern webbing and the morale modifier for British units due to the inclusion on boiling vessels to thier wagons were particularly good.

I for one would like the inclusion of a new type of British logistic unit, namely rumour control HQ.The effect of this unit would be to make all your other British units do random things, such as sudden uncontrollable spikes of veterancy levels (and drops in levels :D ), and also the ability to move fast randomly about the map and then wait for long periods of time. But only within the logistic range of the rumour control HQ.

Welcome Nikky70! Glad you enjoyed the banter.

Lol yeah the rush to wait feature is a must! We could set troops a dead line to move to a position then have them wait there for half a day while prepping there gear then a'bit more waiting. Also the ability to get confused when watching hexy TV when brewing up.

Ah ECBA? That stuff is ridiculous, with a plate that sits just off centre on your back making it impossible to fit a bergen comfortably! Give me Osprey any day.

But Osprey is bloody heavy. Can't carry that comfy began very far if your legs drop off with exhaustion. ECBA isnt as useless as you seem to think, works in the "conventional war" scenario.

You get used to Osprey very quickly because it fits to your body rather well. Depends what type of infantry you're serving with as to how effective ECBA is, Light role I'd rather have neither and exploit the additional mobility, armoured I'd rather have Osprey.

How good are the ballistic plates in the ECBA? because in thickness compared with the Osprey ones they see somewhat flimsy.

ECBA plates are pretty good, they are the same ones used as the side plates for Osprey. ECBA was more to stop a bullet hitting your heart/vitals and killing you instantly, plus the frag filler against light shrapnel from artillery. Osprey is all about as much protection from IED's as possible. (very simplified explanation I shall admit)

Yeah i have been enjoying the humour in this thread. Nice to know there are those that stagged on in boar here ;)

Out of curiosity, what would you all consider a "Complete" British units list in the timescale of Wargame? If there were to be a list with the same amount of units (if possible) as the US and USSR lists except entirely composed of UK units, what would you all like to see?

Well for a start, if Paratroopers are going into battle in Maroon berets and Legion wear white Kepis, then Fusiliers need to have hackles added to their berets. Or you could rename them to "Green Howards", clearly the best line infantry regiment in the Army at the time (in before inter regimental chest beating).

The Chieftain Marksman would be a nice addition. An MBT with an AA autocannon turret. The Fox armoured car? Little four wheeled recce vehicle with a 30mm cannon. Introduced 73 and withdrawn in the 90s.

More British APC variants - FV120 Spartan with the dual MILAN launchers (since most other countries APCs have imperial shit-tons of variants), a Striker variant with the upgraded SACLOS Swingfire system, Tracked Rapier. Hell maybe even a SPAAG Challenger, that would be beastly.

No one mentionned my most favourite British Cold War "unit": the Blue Peacock, aka "Chicken-powered nuclear bomb".
