Sorry for this noobish post but I'm having trouble and I dont know if it's the game that is stuck in a bad state of me that is too thick.

So I got the game on steam yesterday. This morning I started it up. It took me quite a while to figure out how to launch it without it flipping back and forth between my desktop and a black screen. But that is another story. Could be related though.

Anyway, here is where I'm stuck

1) Started the game
2) Registered it
3) Select Solo Mission
4) Select the only choice mission: Iron Curtain
5) Hit Next, Hit Launch
6) Intro movie
7) In field camera zooming out, 47 seconds
8) Message telling me to use the wheel button
9) Hit Continue, Objective window shows, Eliminate Enemies
10) Moving in and out, moving camera around
11) That's it, no further instructions

I can select a unit or more but then what. From the manual, I should be able to right click to tell them where to go but nothing.

The battlefield view has a dim overlay window with a FLASH MESSAGE: as caption. a window I don't see in any youtube videos.

Is the game stuck in a tutorial state?

Press Esc and read the objectives, complete them and it will continue. You probably didn't scout Bravo or something.

There is likely hidden units in hedges or a forest, use your recon to find them.

OK, So I hit ESC, read the objective.
Now I guess hit continue?
Same problem. I cant do anything but select units and move the camera arround

I would not know how to do that, as the steps I mentioned in the first post are the only thing the game allows me to do and therefore the only thing I know I can do in the game.

Proper games aren't meant to be "pick-up and play". Keep playing, learning through your mistakes and eventually you'll get it. It's called trial and error and it's what makes games fun.

It would help if someone would point out what is the mistake. Right now the only level of trial and error I can achieve is moving the camera around and select units (Trial). I hit every keyboard keys, clicked every mouse button, click everywhere on the field. Nothing is happening (Error).

Click on the leopards and tell them to move to the objective that is shown on the map to the north of them.

Did you click the ok button to close the message?

Sounds like a bug somewhere. Try verifying Steam cache and relaunching the game. You should be able to select your units and right click them to move once you've clicked away the text blocks.

You can select the units and cant move them? Or you can select, and move? If you select, and cant move, then your game is bugged, and you should restart the campaign.

Take a look the units fuel.

Yes. I suspect my actions are not recognized because they are obvious action commands any C&C game has. Stuck in not getting a basic move command.

My resolution is set to Super Low. I've seen UI huds not "Getting" the mouse coords right and make the UI defective.

Usually running at a better resolution fixes that. but in my case, the superlow res is the only way the game will start.

I'll try to locate that.

Could you post about your problem with not being able to start the game on a higher graphics setting?
