Well, because the cheater was an idiot. But if your not that dumb those kind of cheats will pass unnoticed 95%...

needs fix response, those kind of cheats can kill a game, esp. if they are available 1 day after the release ...

It takes that long in order to not give blatant informations to creators of these cheats.
Because, that's how it works:

1) Coder creates a cheat.
2) He or someone else tests it in the game.
3) IF cheat is confirmed to be working, then:
3a) It is released to the public for free (public cheats, no pay2use required)
3b) Sellable, after you buy it you log into it (you need a subscribed account or smth).
3c) Private groups, some clans like to have such a coder to create cheats for themselves.
4) Cheat works without flaws, cheaters are enjoying (or not), playing few days then quitting due to boredom, some stay.
5) Those who stay or decide to come back after a month or so, are banned by VAC.


Why that long ?

Somewhere between 2 and 3, account of said cheat user is being flagged to be banned. It doesn't say so for the flagged user, thus he thinks the cheat is undetectable and safe to use.
Also multiple cheat users, won't know which cheat flagged them for ban.

It's great system, though it takes time to kick, thus generates some hate from minority, who do not know how it does work.

Is it better than punkbuster ?

Yes and not.

PB kicks them instantly if it detects some cheat.
A) This gives coders important information to fix the hack in order to be undetected once again.
B) Users can enjoy hackfree (not really) game due to fast response.
C) PB tends to give false alarms and kicks player due to some OS errors and firewall issues.

I saw a Trainer that gives you several Options. Command Stars,get higher rank, add deployment Points and so on..
Seems the Profile Stats are saved local and not on a Eugen Server. Thats Bad if the SP and MP Profil are the same.

You get Command stars for SP and MP, you yes..i think its Local.

I dont tryed it myself you shouldnt do that yourself. Because i hope Eugen can watch Profiles too. So they can deactivate the Profiles

The way to fix cheating is simple.

1) Game engine presumably works by sending event which are then exected in order to produce the outcome of the other player's actions. Much like the replays are saved.
2) The game state can be represented by a hash. Every 10 seconds or so this hash can be calcalted and compared with a hash sent from the other machine. If the hashes are found to be different game ends.
a) Eugen marks each game ending like this as a hidden stat on your profile.
b) Incendentally this stat can also track how many games go bad due to a disconnect between the two players, but not between either player and the server.
c) It can also track any game where each client reports a different result.
3) Upon receiving any game that encountered any of the three above problems the server compares the players' hidden "reliablity" stat. Whichever player has a higher game failure percentage is given a loss, and the other player given a win. If the percentages are similar the game can be made a draw.

There we have it. A fairly simple system that should give fair results most of the time. Using tools which desync the game over several games will see your reliablity stat plummet, and you'll never receive a win for any of these disputed games.

The game works P2P but Eugen will find out a way I am sure. They did it with RUSE when in similar situation.
I have also PMed the trainer maker to make sure he will fix that on the next path so it will not work in MP anymore.
In general his trainers only works in single player mode.
