So, I get that spending more points (or killing) upgrades your troops. But, by how much? Is there any way I can see it? Does it improve range? Or just things like RoF, Accuracy, etc?

Also, having dropped my SAS and Delta Force (Combined Operations ftw?) - They were both under attack, pretty badly but they were stood in between 3 FOB's captured from the enemy so, given a bit of balls, they'd survive. However the SAS chickened out way earlier than the DF Squad, was wondering if anyone had noticed that or whether it was some effect of the battle?

And finally, I'm okay at using tanks, mainly at distance but when it comes to running and gunning I struggle. I've unlocked bother the Patton and the ... begins with a C, English, slow(ish) but with great armour. You know the one. Anyway, so I have the choice between faster moving skirmishing and the slower but heavier tanks, along with the Abrams variants, but I'm struggling to find a tactic that works.

In fact what I'm actually finding is that using them as a distraction works way better and I tend to forget them as I focus on being a sneaky little bastard.

Any info appreciated and would also enjoy reading peoples tactics regarding the special forces.

The Delta's are a full 10 man squad. The SAS guys are only 5 so i think their morale crumbles sooner in comparison.

As for tanks i use the Leopard series and the AMX 30 series exclusively(AMX 30b2 is nice and gives 12 total)

The Leopard 1A5 only gives you 4 total but is a great tank for 55.

I can't verify any of this, but let me make a guess.

Veterancy effects the following things: morale (takes more damage before being unnerved), accuracy, recovery from morale effects, cost when purchasing, fire rate in a minor way (elite units fire once or twice more over a minute, does not really effect missiles) and maybe aiming speed.

Veterancy does not effect the following things: taking damage, using supplies such as ammo or gas, chances of getting hit, unit speed or resupply costs.

The actual effect resembles a Bell curve. This means that differences between levels 0-1 and 4-5 are the most pronounced ones.
