So, I've been trying to incorporate more infantry into my strategies and I've come across a question: What purpose do the rifle squads serve? It seems that, because of the small role infantry currently plays, having an infantry unit that exists solely to counter other infantry units is redundant. I mean, I know they usually come with LAWs, which allows them to sort of fill an AT role, but getting them within 700 meters of enemy armor can be very risky and not worth the losses if there isn't cover around, especially considering that actual AT infantry has much greater range and more tank-busting power. Also, as far as AA goes, their smallarms can't even be used against helos, so that's out of the question, too. I really don't see their use. Of the 8 hours I've put into the game (beta included), they've only been helpful once, and it was when defending AA and AT teams deep behind enemy lines (air drops!

). All other times, they've left me wishing I had invested in more AT or AA teams.
What do you use rifle squads for? What am I doing wrong?
Put them in woods.
A tank that pass by within 700 meters will be annihilated without even knowing what the hell hit it.
That's how you use infantry.
Some rifle squads has better AT at a higher price.
Some infantry is simply better against other infantry making them less vulnerable to infantry attacks in those woods.
It depends how much you wish to pay for an infantry squad.
