Why is it just one day? I'd think a lot of potential buyers will hear of it afterwards.

Don't tell me. Its free until its popular and then a monthly fee?
Don't tell me:

a) no mods
b) no freedom
c) perhaps in the long term them making you pay a monthly subsciption
d) my net is crap... drops out twice a night. What do I do then?
e) They go bust and so do my games
f) I will have to have some sort of premium account to get better graphics or they will upgrade too slowly when things I want to play come out
g) My game specific hardware that I want to use will be incompatible with their hardware
h) No indy developers just like consoles. Only the big titles or those that will play corporate ball with onlive.

Am I just paranoid? Do I really want to go remote desktop for my games?
Reminds me of banks...
we will hold and manage your money for you at least until we GFC you all. Its much better in my mattress where thieves and fire can get at it ;)

Its all about control people. The more we have as gamers the more our hobby will prosper. The more control companies have of our PCs the more we will do what they want. You don't own your PC you are depriving yourself of choice between gaming services and smacking the poor indy devs down to nothingness. Not to mention slowing hardware vendors to a crawl just like consoles do.

Well not only that. Right now I am thinking of how I installed a custom (not yet released) beta patch for cliffs of dover to work with a server my mates play on. I doubt I could have that much control on their servers.
I mean I would want to troubleshoot right away too... but I think people managing onlive servers would not care. In fact the pool of people that knew how to fix would diminish on the internet.

I do use steam. It allows me to mod and do what I want. Go in offline mode if I want.
Less freedom than old PC games with non-internet DRM though... but not a huge stretch that onlive would be.

Whats your problem though? :) Onlive is for people who would like to use that service. People obviously not you :D But there's not need to go and rage on the idea of Onlive here.. :P I dont like it myself either and like you want to keep control over what I pay for. But this is extra exposure for the game and it allows people who like OnLive to play it. Nobody is forcing you to start using OnLive.

Move along dude.. 8-)

Dude forums are for debate. Onlive was new to me so I checked it out.
I thought it might be interesting to hear peoples thoughts. It seems I am the only one here who believes in democracy and freedom of speech.

Why is negativity or even a balanced view that is less than positive always thought of like some kind of useless trolling? I had no intention of that. Just getting it straight in my head here what the service is.

Instead of constructive replies detailing the advantages of the service and outlining that their are no monthly fees. Debuffing my posts. I just get "feelings" from people.
