On ships #2 (changes from beta)

On ships #2 (changes from beta)

Postby [EUG]MadMat » Tue 8 Apr 2014 18:59

Here is a short preview of the changes made to ships from the beta.

FLX wrote:- Ships' prices have been greatly increased, for a capital ship, with all the powerful armament it carries, to be a real investment.
- Ships' role (fast attack, air defense, ...) are more pronounced.
- Ships are more resilient on the front and rear.
- Small ships cannot be targeted by ASM anymore.
- Anti-ship planes' sea optics have been degraded, so they won't spot ships that easily on their own, especially smaller ones.
- Anti-ship choppers' sea optics have been set so that they now act as naval recon, making them quite usefull despite their weaker armament.
- Anti-ship missiles deal less damages.
- CIWS' efficiency was reduced.
- Guns' ranges was slightly reduced.
- Map design of the mixed maps (land/sea) have been rethought: ships may still wreak havoc on the shores but you cannot win the game by holding the sea alone. Their role is now clearly to support landings.

Nice.
Will it be an advantage to get into gun range with some ships that lack ASM but pack more guns, or will ASM still be the major weapon on the seas?

Edit:
Using Smoke/Islands to get into Gun Range would be similar to Tank Battle, which could be fun.

That's great and i can't wait to try. I believe there is no room to "flock vs flock and let the bigger one win!" now?

And a question that many of players ask: if sometimes we will see land-based ASMs and if yes than when (DLC or smth?).

Thanks.

Landing craft + riverine.

I've underestimated the old-fashioned guns the first time I played a 100% naval battle.
The Lafayette's taught me the other way ... :(

Sounds good, can't wait to try it.

Is the number of ships going to stay the same? Are there any plans to add more at some point?
