Tiny, isn't it ? but it carries FOUR men into battle (in an heroic motion)

And it's a deadly tank hunter

Fear the tricycle, gentlemen.

Think of them as ATGMs that might become scared and return to the operator if shot at and is aimed at taking out diesel powered tanks. Too bad the germans used gasoline to fuel their tanks...

what worries me about the tricycle cannon thingermajig is that one of the shells/rockets looks VERY dented (the closest one to the camera perspective).

Not really a weird apparent design, but I learnt that the MERKAVA had a 60mm mortar in addition to standard weapons systems.

This tank really has flaws, but this little feature kicks butts!

Mainly it's speed, it's design for their particular environment (not really a flaw but it's really made for their scenery), small horse power/ton (until the IV, with many III's still active), has a rather weak rear.

On the bright side it fires compartmented ammunition that is designed for interesting purposes (Taking out helicopters...), can carry people (and even be a Tank-bulance!), prioritizes the crew's survivability by several means, and has an interesting countermeasure system against enemy fire in it's very last verson.

I love this plane. To death. People forget it existed...

Image

Northrop XP-79

Flew September 12th 1945. Looks like a Sci-Fi fighter. Retired September 12th 1945. Crashed on test flight due to issues.

It also was supposed to use a magnesium alloy for the structure and was powered by two rocket engines that used acid rocket fuel... then they realised this was a bad idea and put some jet engines instead.

I kind of wish it had worked and set the 'theme' for US air design...
