My father was in the army and used the Dragon II when he was in the Army.

He had come into my room to see what i was doing and saw me playing wargame as some T72's were in a field and i had Dragon II's in the trees, I took them off cease fire, and away the missile goes! .............. into space.

Needless to say. My father cracked up and made a remark that it reminded him of the "Dragon".

I told him that it WAS the dragon... and heres what he says.

"...God that piece of s**t. That thing was a redundant use of a million or so dollars. We never put it up against a tank, but if if we did, that d**n missile was so slow, a t72 could detect it was being painted, turn its canon 180 degrees and get 2 rounds off before your missile hit. Was interesting watching it fly... Not a steady stream of motor. every half a second or so itd "puff" before falling a few inches and puffing again causing it to come up a few inches, the fins moving to keep it on target........ son of a b**ch flew in a circular pattern... have fun killing stuff with it"

So there. A comical history lesson from my father who seemed displeased about the AT of his time lol.

The Dragon is basically more a guided-RPG than a real ATGM.

On this video, you can see and hear the "puff" you mentionned ...

Haha, I cracked at the video quite a bit.

That thing is so noisy, it's like a message saying "So, you see, we're around there, in case you didn't notice being painted".

I can't imagine the noise of a volley of those!

No sound on this one, but you can clearly see the wire trailing behind the missile, and an "inside view" of the in-flight missile.

EDIT: Not a Dragon actually, the video's title is misleading ...

Dont believe its a dragon, launcher and the missile itself are too different. Looked like a javelin prototype honestly

Well, seems like you're right ... I was focusing on the wire, and didn't pay enough attention to the launcher ...
I was also impressed by how smooth the flight was in in-flight camera, I was expecting it to be more jerky from a Dragon. Now I understand why ...
Thanks for correcting me. ;)

LAV are in the timeframe, but we don't do naval units.
No USMC, no French Infanterie de Marine, British Royal Marines Commando or Soviet Morskaya Pehota [sorry for the mispelling, quoted from memory], Polish 7th Naval Division either ... There were already so much Army units we had to leave aside in order to do the already honorable number of 350+ units that we've decide concentrate on Army only.
