Ground recons with very good optics don't have such problems, in fact they're actually quite useful.

I use Mi2 instead of Mi9. I have bigger chance of escape with smaller and (I think) more agile chopper.

Don't the Mi2 and Bo-105CB have Very Good optics?
I think it is fair to pay 15 points for the upgrade to the Gazelle, with its exceptional optics.
After a quick check on the armory, the mi2-mi9 upgrade is only 10 points, which makes sense because the mi9 is a flying whale.
