I have seen great tanks like the British Challenger, the German Leopard 2A4, and the American M1 Abrams but I never seen much expectations for the Communists side.

Out of all the four Warsaw Pact countries (Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Poland, East Germany), the Soviet tanks, stat-wise, have the best tanks but which of those tanks can actually match up against those NATO tanks listed above?

Need your opinion because I'm new to this game (currently in Level 15 but still need work).

The T-80U are vastly superior to any tank NATO can field (I've had a squad of 2 t80u tear down a squad of 4 leopard 2a4). The T-80BV and T-64BV can hold their own against the aforementioned NATO tanks very well, and the T-80A/B are decent all-around tanks equal to the Leopard 2A1, while the T-80 regular is inferior to them all but also cheaper and with its nice armor and 9AP makes a nice base tank to compose the spearhead of the assault force.

Although the T-80 series in-game model are all the same but some reskin, this makes me sick~

I use kpz t72G as the meatshield/hit and kill then its t64bv and T72A kpz T55 are also welcome

I had a round where 2 T-80Us and 2 T-64BVs took down 4 M1s and 4 leopards 1A5.

Quick answer: parts from all of the Soviet trees. None from the other trees.

Long answer: The following are, in my opinion, wastes of points:
1) T-62 obr 1975: 10 points more is the T-62M. ATGM, optics and armour for 10 points is a no-brainer.
1) T-72B: For 5 points more you get the T-80A which is easily worth it.
2) T-80B: You're paying too much over the T-80 for just an ATGM

Pretty much all the others are good in their roles.

Incidentally, why would you use the Kpz T-72s as a meat-shield? It this role it seems that 5 points for the extra armour would be rather worthwhile..

The T-72B has twice the number of missiles with greater accuarcy and the missles are SALH, it got much greater fuel economy and the normal optics can be useful if you mismanage recon a lot. Not sure it is worth it though.

But with the range increase on main guns the tank launched ATGMs have gone down significantly in value IMO. What really cripples the T-72B is the 7 front armour.

Don't think of it in terms of "match ups". The factions are intended to be different.

Pact have great ATGM tanks in the T-62 series, decent damage sponges in the T-72, fair mid range tanks in the T-64A. And decent cheap tanks in the T-55 series. T-80 series is excellent, with a great upper mid range tank (T-80) and great high end tanks (T-80BV and T-80U).

That's just really bad luck or poor micro from the Leo player. If those Leos had split up they'd have owned you unless they got very unlucky.
