alright i feel like i have tried everything. How the hell do you stop a competent Marder VTSI rush? I know I must not have tried everything but every time i go against i loose, straight up, unless I'm lucky and they make a stupid mistake. I just don't know how to stop it, it seems to go through everything ATGM inf (when their clever and have supporting mortars) my pact tanks. can someone please help perhaps point out what I'm doing wrong?

rifle inf, zhalo, helo, flame thrower... spot it and then hide in forest and attack only when you have a proper counter....

Hi how are you,

Could you post a replay, it would help on assessing the situation, and give some good advice.

Unfortunately it's not possible to stop rushes unless you have the right kind of stuff.

If you field the counter to one kind of rush, you will die to another kind of rush. If you dont counter a rush hard enough it will beat you; but if you build a rush counter and come up against a balanced force, you lose.

People will always say "oh you just need to recon better" or "oh, a good balanced force will beat anything" but all of these things normally assume that the rushing player is a noob. A good rushing player that does it properly is hard to beat.

Seems to me that rushing wins a disproportionate amount of games to me, especially when done by decent players, enough so that even when you do occasionally get hard countered you will still win enough games to increase in rankings.

Which is why I'm just playing casual.

To be fair to this game though, it's pretty much got the *least* bad rushes of any RTS I've ever played. At least it *is* possible to counter them effectively and a good balanced player will still beat a bad rushing player, which isnt always the case in other RTS.

in the higher resource amount of a PUB game the rusher can win more often then lose.

the best way I find to deal with rushes is with MRLS of some sort, they spread and stun allowing even a vastly lower population defense force time to destroy them.

the biggest problem i see is over whelming with either land or air, when the opposing person has too much towards the other. Every AA asset you have reduces your chances to stop a fast moving ground fight. Every ground combat unit you have reduces your chance to stop a Aircraft swarm. etc.. you can't tailor yourself for both and beat someone who mathodecially creeps you with artillery and scouts.

defending in this game is 10x easier then attacking, except in a high resource swarm...

Rushes rely on winning quickly, just don't face it head on and it'll run out of steam. He can't hunt down your command vehicle, they should be in a forest surrounded by infantry/flame that will utterly ruin any form of rush attack. It's a bit impossible to provide anything else unless there's a replay. Half the time I find just avoiding the enemy rush and walking into their base works, rushers aren't very often good players.

You are wp. chopping a marder rush shoud be easy. give themsome cheap t55's to shoot at while your better units take them out. also you have flamethowing TANKS... use them they will stop rush. Lone zippo's that explode when you look at them sideways manage to do it, your t55/62 flame variants will do it even better. Have better units like the zhalo or the bmp695 (that the cav prototype?) on the flanks andyou will do fine.

Or just get 12 OT-64s filled with cheap infantry. Rush up to them at 90mp/h, unload and profit.

The problem is that conventional forces aren't strong against marders. The front and side armour of two means they can take an ATGM hit without dying most of the time, and their speed means they can outmanouvre you with ease. Other spam counters such as rockets and massed light fire don't work well due to, once agian, the armour. 2-2-1-1 is a very nice armour profile for such a cheap unit which can go so fast.
