You can't compare an infantry killer to an infantry in an open battlefield..
If you meet the infantry in a forest, you're dead.
End of story.
If the IFV spots it. Vice versa.

It's about the game, not the units.

No amount of IFVs will stop a dedicated infantry push in woods. They can't suppress mass 40 man riflesquads who all they have to do is one-shot the IFVs. It's all purely who has better infantry and most numbers, and if there is any air support over the forest.

Well for PACT that isn't an IFV, it's a main battle tank (T55 model), for Nato it's just a flamethrower vehicle. IFVs would be the transport apcs with autocannons, MGs, and sometimes TOWs. ^^

It's just that it seems as if you're under the impression that fights in forrests are decided by quality and quantity of infantry when it is really only about who's got a flame vehicle and the better recon.

I'd probably expect some sort of flamethrower nerf for vehicles. Infantry flamers, they're fine. Vehicles have this terrible combination: doesn't need LOS, outranges infantry, crushes morale instantly. I'd fix it by removing the ability to fire flamethrowers in the woods.

Infantry are great, probably one of the best units in the game.

Flamethrowers are super awesome but their entire point is being able to fire over stuff, it would be odd if they couldn't fire out of forests.

They could still fire into forests, in & out of cities and over hillsides. I dislike planting flamethrower vehicles inside forests on the map edges: that cuts significantly back the utility of special forces. Also the "Fortress Flame" tactic seen is retarded and should be mended.

Use them with IFVs (not common APCs). A Marder or BMP with simple troops can be used in bushes and , should the enemy try to rush, the infantry will give a lot of firepower for the cost. Will kill many times their values before they fall. With BMP-3 it's amazing, since it has a decent range missile and then, when the tanks try and advance, just enter the woods and let them reach infantry range to be obliterated.

If you want to use your vehicles elsewhere, use a AT infantry as bait, leave one or 2 AA infantry in the same forest and many riflemen standing by. People don't resist trying to kill your AT infantry a lot of times, wasting a lot of resources to take out your cheap force.

Also, remember infantry are the only units that can garrison in buildings. They are VERY hard to detect that way, try and sneak APCs behind enemy lines and put infantry in all towns you believe can be path to reinforcements. Even if they only cap a truck or 2, it's still infuriating and they are pretty cheap.

Just remember - infantry cannot be spotted or artillery will kill it. keep good spotting units nearby and fast response forces to kill spotters ASAP (I like choppers to do so, both AA choppers for aerial scouts and AT choppers to kill ground recon. 2 AA choppers and 1 AT chopper usually is enought to deal with spotters in one volley).
