If you're using AAA to defend itself you're using it wrong. It is meant as cost effective defence for long range SAMs. If you position your units a bit cleverly, you can make sure thare is no way for helicopters to attack your AAA without getting shot by sams and no way for the helicopters to attack the SAMs without getting shot by both the AAA and the SAMs. Result: helicopters must stay away for lesser price than if you'd gone all SAM.

People... children... Gepard got furthest autocannon range means there is no other autocannon that shoots further. Most pact autocannons got a pathetic 1500m, some 1700m, ZSU only one with 2200m.

No, I am using it to shoot down choppers, and 2275m won't hit 2451m or even 2626m, unless your enemy is some kind of retard.

So, yes. You are using them wrong. You're not supposed to go around and kill helicopters with AAA, you're supposed use them to keep the helicopters from coming and kill your SAMs

Well, Gronank isn't the one here who complains about inefficient AA. MAybe you should listen to him.

Why is there 7 pages of BS about this? The Question is Why is nato so awfully bad at AA? The answer is NO IT IS NOT! end of story. Marder Roland FTW Gepard VERY NICE! :geek: 8-)

Roland never hits and gepard's range is laughable.

Yeah, right! Because Roland has 10 accuracy missiles and accuracy rated at "10" clearly stands for "never hits".

I'm sorry, Oliver, but the only word popping in my head right now is the one you marked as an insult.
It begins with "r", ends with "d", has 8 letters and it isn't "relieved" or "ratified".

search.php?keywords=missile+bug

read before you preach.

in any case, the armory is not to be trusted. many of the values there are plain wrong. it's easy to verify by testing that the roland 2 is bad, especially compared to its peers, the tunguska and buk. to add insult to injury, the range of the roland 2 is crap aswell.

Correction: PACT doesn't have very good AAA with current Shilka specs. AA means "Anti-Air" and is a general term for anything anti-air. AAA means Anti-Aircraft Artillery, and is used to signify AA gun platforms. PACT has very good AA, they're just all SAM units.

Funny. After reading those, all the instances of "missile bug" are with ATGM's, not AA missiles.

Odd, I've had nothing but success with the Roland 2. A pair of them is a match for most anything, unless I get helo rushed. On the other hand, I've had multiple times where my Tunguska missed with six of its missiles in a row (it had already used 2 earlier), forcing it into gun range.
