I took a break after Golyo's infantry rush of doom in which I fully take responsibility for losing, I should have seen it coming and been able to set up better and repel it. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN The ability to drop out of a halftrack with 10 dollar units and kill almost any vehicle in the first second is balanced 'wargame' issue tactics! THIS INFERIORATED ME beyond belief. I actually erased the game. But ... I love this game. I love the concept, and idea of it.


I installed it and played SOLO games ...and 2 pubs in order to hit level 40 and unlock the last of the units i could ever want. then, tonight I decided I would try a MP rank again.. and ran into rank #9 M.M. PACO..... who spent every single cent he had on gazelles.

I play a general balanced infantry/tank company with AA support and recon and a arty/mlrs. against another balanced/inf based company I generally come out ahead if not even footing everytime.

Against these no skill wonderful top tier ranked players who spam one thing and one thing only, I can't compete. I saw it coming, I shot down $500 worth of gazelles, I even landed a buratino on half his blob and stunnned them crazy. But I don't have enough AA for this style of play.

and so.. now if I want to keep playing, I have to handicap my ideal style of play. I guess I will take one from TIGGA'S replays, spend almost half my money on AA to sit at one of my command vehicles at my base not moving.. sigh

this game isn't a wargame, its almost identical to playing the zerg in starcraft!

If you've watched some of my replays you will see that I'm a very defensive player, that is until I got rushed my Hinds. I played the same player next match and added slighly more AA in case he did it again which he didn't and the game turned into a hour plus long stalemate with virtually no combat and ended by mass Smerch barrage.

Needless to say I got pissed and helicopter rushed everyone I played afterwards and uninstalled the game. I had never even attempted a single rush on a 1500+ before. Game has taken over my life a bit too much and I'm taking a break until at least I finish school. It's fun, but when you let competitive emotions cloud your judgment you tend to lose track of what's really important and I found myself getting angry over a game.

This is my typical game, against now #2 komaromi. (Caster makes a few mistakes in commentary but you can see how the game plays out.)

P.S. I knew this post was coming from you salan judging by your post history. :lol:

P.P.S. GOLYO's rank has plumetted, he almost never varied his strategy and is no longer in the top ten. There are quite a few replays that show GOLYO being easily defeated. I admit, if you have no idea it is coming it can cause a quite a bit of panic but I think a balanced army could beat GOLYO. Almost everyone in the top ten you can field a balanced army and be competitive against. Not sure about bentguru's VTS1 rush though...

Usually I post rather good posts. But I find I am frusterated by these things and .. meh, the fits of the dieing generally post when they can. The internet is full of entitled bitches, and I guess we can all go there when we feel deserving! even if we really aren't!


Bentguru i have fought many times actually, out of all the top's.. came close to beating him twice, great games each time, but I think he's still undefeated by me ;)

ya its annoying, you find the perfect game, realize that in teh end its not perfect and have to deal with it.. I've been playing way to much as well, in a way I should thank golyo, my time in game has plummetted to almost non-existent!

BTW, that game has forced me to rework my whole strat.. I'm now building toward a boring defensive creep game with a few flankers and sniping arty ... :)

PSA: It was Lexovix, who I think is going to shoot way up the rankings. So dont be suprised if you see a line, not blob, of helicopters rushing your base. But don't be suprised if your massed AA gets rolled by ground units either. That's what makes some players so good.

Instead of assuming that there must be something wrong with the game, consider the idea that you made a mistake. Keep points in reserve and scout ahead to know the enemy armies' composition.

The problem of a well done helicopter rush is that it arrives at your forces not long after you manage to see them, causes most people to panic, gives them less time to micro, renders most of your units ineffective, lets them pick the terms of the battle and can intercept unprepared units.

Also, depending on the map newly spawned units may not have enough time to react or can be picked off as they spawn. There are also maps where you relocate from your starting sector, in which case you can't call in more AA on time. The drawbacks are that it probably won't second time around and/or your opponent builds a large amount of starting AA.

I cant understand how someone can have problems against a heli rush.
As long as your army is at least a bit balanced everyone with at least a bit skill will crush any attempt of heli rushing.

Everyone who tried it against me got a bloody nose.

Just have some cheap AA with you and done, 100 points spent on all purpose aa like praga/gepard and some infantry will annihilate heli spamms without loosing a lot of points.

I haven't faced an all out helicopter rush yet, but I've encountered some minor ones, and I haven't had much of a problem with it. I play an autocannon heavy build, so that, along with my Gepards usually take care of any approaching helicopters before they can do much damage. If just about everyone in your force is equipped to handle their own against choppers, they can't do much!
