And away we go....
Opus and I have spent some quality time hashing out an initial proposal for War of Nations rules. This community is not going to be a dictatorship or a strict hierarchy, these rules are not set in stone, and we will not be surprised if they evolve as a result of play experience. Take a look, participate in the first couple battles, and then feel free to weigh in based on your game experience. We did put some serious thought into what was straightforward, fair and the best fit for our objective, and we'd like to maintain some stability in these rules over at least the first couple battle weeks to give them a stern testing. That said, have at 'em!
The Upshot:We are attempting to adhere to 'One Player, One Flag' with as few exceptions as possible. Wargame in it's current form does force us to make some calls here. We are confident these rules are a good starting point, and are prepared to offer our rationale for anyone interested. Here are the main principals:
- All players may build their faction's FOB
- the CSSR and Poland may add the USSR BRDM-2U command vehicle to their logistics roster - no other command vehicles.
- The CSSR and Poland may use any foreign transports and helicopters that come attached to their national infantry. They may also add these,
and only these, foreign transports to their vehicle and helo rosters.
- By our count, there are four 'multinational' lines of units - in a unit line flagged for country x, but there is a the variant flagged for country y. You may add these foreign unit lines to your deck to access your flagged unit, but may not call in the foreign units to the battlefield. This will of course be on the honor system - any violations and you will get a visit from the politruk
That is it! Otherwise, if you have a flag next to the unit, it can be in your deck, if it has a foreign flag, it is not be.
I went to great pains to create a more formal rule list, posted below, laying this out in all its detailed glory; please check your deck against this list once you're done. PM me if you'd like a word copy over email.
Thanks for the commitment, you guys, this has been a great labor of love for both of us!
