Wondering what peoples' opinions on this are...

The Buratino is obviously both wonderfully accurate and rapid firing.

But, I'm wondering if part of the reason that it is so wonderful is the fact that people are *forced* to drive it up close to use it. For around the same cost (well, 160) you could have 2 Malkas, which when firing from a 3500 range, are just as accurate or more accurate and hit much harder.

Malkas have the added advantage of aiming and firing faster and not having to go through an epic reload after firing, making walking fire/multiple targeting better; they also have the advantage of being able to fire much farther if needs be (and not being so vulnerable to counter-battery)

They obviously have the disadvantage of not having the Buratino's epic armour, and though highly accurate, lacking the massive saturation of the Buratino.

I'm not in any way suggesting close-support tube artillery as a replacement for the Buratino, but I am suggesting that artillery is really good and accurate when used at Buratino-like ranges, or even 10k ranges compared to sitting arty at 20-40k as a lot of people seem to do.

What are other peoples' experience with this?

Edit: Same principle applies for NATO mortars.

The screenshot just show that the NATO player was kind of... well... not a great player at all.

I know, wasn't intended to be serious.

I just crack up watching the replay of that match - it's comical watching this wave on M113's all smoosh together into a tiny forest.

It was like a clown car - cept with armour instead of clowns. (or maybe they were clowns, seemed that way)

Serious answer - Burritino has large alpha strike capability - meaning it can deal all of its damage in a single strike whereas artillery can only deal damage over time.

I like the Malka for hard hitting howitzer (10 accuracy, 7 HE power, 16 rounds) and the Grad for fast and cheap rocket arty (75km/h, 3 HE power)

Mine is more
Tube : Oh my, this gonna ruin my line of defense
Buratino/smerch : Olol, he just miss and now get to reload. Cause 95% of the player don't know how to use them and don't spread their unit.

Do you play ranked 1vs1? Burationos have costed me alot of wins when i play nato. And they have brought me some wins as pact. I have not yet lost a single match in a 1vs1 ranked game as pact as far as i can remenber. And i have played a few :p

(ok, i lost 2 as pact, one i had to afk, and one where i was totaly trashed by 2 leos 2a4, still cant believe that this happened:P, in the afk game i still went from 600 points to 1250 while beeing away, pact is op^^)
