So solely on the basis a M48s were used, you believe the arguments of the author should not apply to more modern tanks?

And that was the first test.

Anyways, I won't go further off topic. We can discuss this in another thread if you wish.

Oh, the findings were absolutely truthful I think. Its just worth keeping in mind the vehicles in question when the comparison is made to the vehicles ingame. Direct hit with arty = dead tank I figure. Be it a 30 ton or 70 ton beast. But ingame whether its a Leopart 1A1 or a Leopard 2A4 would be a big difference.

Ok.
- Top armor on modern tanks is the same as on M48 (I can find links on that if you want)
- Modern western tanks of the period (M1, Leo2 but mostly M60 Leo1 ect, wit possible exclusion of Chalenger1) have same armor plating on top but larger surface area, as well as large rear turret areas, which are poorly protected, and where amunition is, all are less than 30 mm steel.
- Shell fragments can penetrate up to 30 mm steel
- Modern scopes had larger surface area (panoramic scopes) and this were easier to damage.
- Hence those tanks were reletevly easily disabled with arty fire.

So for heavy arty Leo2 is more vulnerable than older Leo1 XD.

Also thermal obscurants were used by both sides (ie shtora) after the time period I believe. Also IR gear is not absolute - it still is affected with smoke.

The game could use a mouse scroll (and keyboard) sensitivity slider for navigation.

Ah, thanks for the info on the arty vulnerability :) I'm not trying to say tanks should shrug it off, its absolutely a huge threat. I've said before, multiple US tankers I've read have testified that Soviet Arty was their biggest fear above all. Sorry for driving this thread offtopic though :P

Host needs to able to lock the team size (people keep changing on their own and mess up teams), they should also be able to move players around if they're too daft to actually respond to his "commands".

Gameplay "Tweak" suggestions:
1.Allow infantry to be called in without a vehicle. Why? Because I am finding, that after using my helicopters to drop off infantry. I am left with a large group of transports, that do not have a use any more. I would love to be able to recycle the helicopters to transport in new infantry groups.

2. Allow infantry transport helicopters to sling load light vehicles. Such as jeeps. This would make both the transport helicopter more useful, and make the deployment of light vehicles faster.

3. Allow FOBs to be resupplied for 200 or more command points.
Large "Content based" suggestions:
1. Make decks more specific. When a player creates a deck, they can choose between, Infantry, Tanks, Logistics, Support, Air.

If an infantry deck were selected, then more slots for infantry units would become available. Instead of having 3 slots, it would have 7 slots for different types of infantry. It would also reduce the amount of types of other non infantry units can be brought in. So the tank type limit would be reduce from 4 to 2. This change would force more team play, and it would mean that players can focus on one type of play style at a time.
It would turn the game a bit more into World In Conflict. Which would be a good thing in my opinion.

2. I am not sure if this is a beta feature. But, when levels are earned, less stars should be awarded. Currently, by level 8, you can have a very good deck for Nato.

3. Add in jets. Perhaps this is asking too much, but adding an airfield structure, and jets could be interesting. The jet reload time would be immense though, and it would use lots of supplies.

4. Add in off map para drops. Such as off map para drop soldiers. And off map para drop supplies.

5. Add smoke rounds for artillery. Advancing under a smoke barrage, could be quite useful.

The only idea I see here which is just anything worth looking at, is the light-vehicle pickup with choppers.

Everything else would completely ruin the nature of the game, and force a different kind of gameplay.

Guggy by 1985 ir scopes were a very rare sight in NORTAG, where the main WP would have been. Most of them were in CENTAG I think with american M60A3TTS (1984) Leo2A1 (1982-84), M1 (variants of).
