For me the critical suggestions are todo with UI:
* Ability to see where unit is heading, even better make this draggable so you can make fine tweaks to movement
* Ability to see what the unit can actually see, maybe a Fog of war toggle that greys the screen to show only those parts of the map visible or as others have said have a different colour boundry making it clear - though this should show blocking parts aka trees etc
* Easier handling of selection of units and unit types
* take away that *&"^"* bluring as you zoom in and out of the map
* have the satellite view still able to select items in the right hand corner which seems to be blocked by the interface
* have the chat window moveable or at least positoned in a corner and size tuneable
* have the info display moveable to at least positioned in a corner so it doesn't cover the unit (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrMOV0BHyrg far from promoting the game shows how bad this is)
* have the move fast as a toggle rather than having to select it (or press a key and positon)
* ability (maybe as a toggle) to keep units in the formation that they were in at start
* ability to jump to an action point (shown on map and by sound) at a reasonable zoom out
* ability to tell troops to disembark at destination rather than having to remember todo this
* easier ability to filter out visible troops on command map eg support/logistics etc
* have control groups shown as part of the interface (not sure about this one but feels right)
* have command stars useable on both pact and nato to ensure packs are kept equal size otherwise disproportion of nato created - be interesting how the breakdown of nato/pack forces are at the moment in terms of what is mainly being used
